Rockland County came together this morning to mark the 24 years since Sept. 11, 2001.

The names of the 85 Rockland residents who died that day were read aloud at the county's annual memorial ceremony at the county’s 9/11 Memorial in Haverstraw Bay Park.

Many of the names were spoken by family members — some returning year after year to honor their loved ones.

"Share the memory with all about my sister... what she did was a great sacrifice," said Cheryl Russo of Rockland. "Did we ever think it was gonna happen? No, but it did. Never forget."
