Sen. Chuck Schumer blasted President Donald Trump’s proposed health care bill while speaking at Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla Friday.
Alongside families who have benefitted from the Affordable Care Act, Schumer raised concerns about the Trump administration's proposed health care bill. He says if the new health care bill is passed, it would slash funding for social programs like Medicaid.
Proponents of the bill say the health care bill would boost economic growth by about 3 percent.
Opponents like Schumer, however, say that the health of individuals is more important.
"You don't just take a meat axe and cut the whole thing, which is what would be done here," Schumer said.
A total of 74% of children at Blythedale rely on Medicaid.
