A Port Jervis man was arrested and accused of child exploitation and the distribution of child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, along with the FBI, announced the arrest of Michael Meyers.

The 62-year-old is facing charges related to the sexual exploitation of a child and the receipt and distribution of child pornography.

Meyers, who worked as an occupational therapist at a school in Oceanside, Long Island for over two decades, was taken into custody Monday.

He appeared before a judge in White Plains federal court.

According to the allegations outlined in the complaint, Meyers was found to have engaged in explicit communications with a 16-year-old using the online application Discord.

The minor allegedly sent Meyers several sexually explicit photos at his request.

The investigation is ongoing, and any individuals with information relevant to the case are urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or through their website at TIPS.fbi.gov.

Meyers faces serious charges, including one count of sexual exploitation of a child, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 30 years.
