What you need to know:
  • Today is one of the busiest travel days of the year, and the Hudson Valley will see changes. Temperatures will trend warmer than the average high of 49 degrees, with some areas reaching near 60. We are in the warm sector of a storm system that brought showers and downpours yesterday and will bring spotty showers today. A mild southerly flow will keep moisture and temperatures up.
  • A cold front will move through later tonight, bringing brief downpours between 6 and 9 p.m. After the front passes, skies will clear as winds pick up and chilly air moves in. The warmth will be gone for the next several days as November ends and December begins.
  • Thanksgiving will be colder with highs in the low to mid-40s. Gusty winds of 20 to 30 mph will make it feel like the mid-30s. For the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, strong winds may force balloons to fly lower than normal. Balloons cannot fly at full height if sustained winds exceed 23 mph and gusts exceed 34 mph. Gusts will be close to that, but balloons will likely still fly.
  • Black Friday will stay windy and cold but dry. Saturday will be sunny and cold, and Sunday will be milder with clouds and late showers. Rain chances increase Sunday evening, with spotty showers Monday and a larger system possible Tuesday and Wednesday that could bring snow.
