A Haverstraw teenager drowned in a fenced-off quarry on Con Edison property Thursday night, police say.
Police say they received a call about a possible drowning on Ninth Avenue in Verplanck shortly before 7:30 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found two people trying to revive their friend, 17-year-old Victor Polanco, by giving him CPR. Just minutes later, the teen was pronounced dead by a team of paramedics called to the scene.
Police say no drugs or alcohol were involved in Polanco's death. Eight people, ages 17 to 23, all from Rockland County, were issued summonses for trespassing on private property.
