A Rockland County nurse was among the health care heroes celebrated during the Rockefeller Tree Lighting.
While most had to enjoy this year's Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony from home, front-line workers watched Wednesday from the front lines - topped with a holiday serenade from country music star Brett Eldredge.
"He gave us a wreath from the actual Rockefeller tree and then he sang for us it was like our own private audience. It was amazing," says nurse Chelsea Russo.
Russo is a Nanuet resident and a nurse at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
The hospital was contacted and asked to nominate workers who deserved recognition as health care heroes. Russo was submitted and selected.
"It was really great because it was a day I was working and have such a busy crazy day made it that much more special," she says.
Russo not only worked on a COVID-19 floor this spring, she's also a COVID-19 survivor.
Russo's brother is also a front-line nurse.
