Data shows there are more people voting early in Rockland County so far this presidential election than in 2020.

According to Rockland’s Board of Elections, 19,005 voters have cast ballots during the first three days into early voting. It was 10,355 in 2020 – with a total sum of 36,195.

On Tuesday, people waited up to an hour to vote at Clarkstown Town Hall – one of the county's seven early polling centers.

"I tried yesterday, the line was very long. I got here early today. I feel like I just cast the most important vote of my life," said Janet Buchbinder of West Nyack. "I came back at 11:30 and got on the line then. I'm just out now, like 50 minutes later."

Some left without voting early because the line to wait was too long.

"It's three days in a row. I'm coming every day but I can't vote," said Mark Akbar, of New City. "They should have more places…I will try again later on but it's too much. It's too many people."

When asked about the high voter turnout, Akbar said, “I'm very happy to see it."

Rockland County’s Board of Election told News 12 that it has “more staff and more equipment than ever before in preparation for a great turnout."
