Rockland County reported its first human case of West Nile virus for the 2022 season.
County health officials say the patient is a Ramapo resident over 50 years old.
A bite from a West Nile-infected mosquito can cause serious illness - or even death.
Symptoms include flu-like sickness, fever, headache, body aches and nausea.
