Emergency officials in Rockland County have released dressing tips to the public ahead of the weekend storm.
In a graphic shared on
Facebook, they distinguished the differences between dressing for cold weather and extreme cold conditions.
People are advised to wear a warm hat, gloves and waterproof boots in both cases.
Officials also urge residents to layer clothing. One layer should be insulating, according to officials.
A heavy coat is also encouraged in order to keep out wind and wet snow. Pants should include two or more layers.
