Rockland County executive focused on improving mass transit options for residents

Rockland County Executive Ed Day wrote a letter to Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday with ways the MTA and other agencies can improve mass transit for county residents.
"That's all we're asking for is fair treatment," said County Executive Day. "Nothing more than that."
His reaction comes after the governor took the Metro-North from Westchester into the Big Apple on Monday.
She told News 12 she wants to look at more bus and rail options for Rockland commuters.
The county executive's letter suggests the MTA and NJ Transit work together to invest in improvements, dedicate bus lanes on the New York State Thruway, and have more service times for the Haverstraw-Ossining ferry.
He points to Rockland commuters who go into New York City spending more money for tolls and fares, along with commutes taking more than an hour each way with no one seat ride.
It's said the governor will appoint a West-of-Hudson task force to study ways to improve commutes for those who live in Rockland and Orange counties.
News 12 reached out to the governor's office for comment in response and have not yet heard back.
