Hundreds gathered solemnly in Rockland County to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day at a ceremony inside the county courthouse.
The event, organized by the Holocaust Museum and Center for Tolerance and Education, shed light on both past and present issues.
"We're here today to honor the lessons of the Holocaust, of Hasoah, all lawfully and legally enacted by the German government," stated one participant, reflecting on the solemn occasion. Another remarked, "We are also here with probably a lot more than a cloud hanging over us than we have in years past."
Participants were invited to light virtual candles in memory of Holocaust victims at IlluminateThePast.org.
