(AP) - The Rockefeller State Park Preserve in New York has received a $4 million donation from David Rockefeller.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the donation Thursday.

The Rockefeller family donated the land in 1983 to establish the 1,400-acre park in Westchester County.

The new gift will be used to support environmental programming, capital improvement projects and other initiatives.

It will also be used to maintain stone arch bridges and carriage roads that were built by John D. Rockefeller Jr.

The parkland includes part of the Rockefeller family's Pocantico (poh-KAN'-tih-koh) Hills estate.

The governor says the philanthropist and banker plans to donate another 500 acres of pastures, hayfields and forest at a later juncture.
