A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday night for the long-awaited Westchester Children's Museum at Rye Playland.
It took more than a decade and over $10 million to transform the shell of a building at the old 1920s-era bathhouse at Playland into the current 6,500 square feet of space.
The museum features interactive displays, art and books aiming to encourage childrens' imagination and creativity.
The museum officially opens Wednesday, and plans to change the open space in an adjoining area into interactive museum space are already on the drawing board.
Museum officials hope to raise an additional $6.4 million to fund the future expansion.
