The life of the man many called "The Greatest" is being remembered all across the world Saturday, including in Westchester.

Boxing great Muhammad Ali died Friday at 74, and it has brought back memories for retired light heavyweight fighter David Telesco, who is from Porchester.

Telesco met Ali at Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn a decade ago, and left a lasting impact on him.

At the time of the visit, the Parkinson's disease that Ali had been suffering from since 1984 was apparent. Telesco says that he was tough to understand because his speech was slurred, but that didn't make the visit any less special for him and others.

"Just speaking to him gave me and the rest of the kids in the gym that day so much confidence to continue our career and never give up," says Telesco.
