Residents are calling for changes to be made on a busy stretch of roadway following a fatal accident Friday in Valhalla.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Britany Mastropolo, 26, after she was struck and killed while crossing the intersection at Columbus Avenue and Cambridge Street.
Residents say they are worried about the safety of their children, calling Columbus Avenue extremely dangerous due to speeding cars. They say they would like to see crossing guards while school is in session.
Mastropolo was a teacher's aide at the Easter Seals school, a school for children with special needs. It is located down the street from where the accident occurred.
Mastropolo died Saturday at Westchester Medical Center. A bouquet of flowers lies on the sidewalk where Mastropolo was struck.
The driver remained at the scene following the accident.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
