A group of Bronx residents and train enthusiasts wish to turn miles of under-used railroad tracks into a recreational spot and tourist destination.
Project organizer Baron Ambrosia says the tracks, which stretch from Harlem River Yard to Oak Point Yard, would be spruced up and adorned with benches, among other amenities.
Part of the renovation would allow people to hop on a rail car and enjoy a leisurely ride on an old-fashioned form of transportation.
Ambrosia says he hopes to open the site to the public by this spring, once the project is approved and initiates more test runs on the track.
