Residents are calling for changes at a busy intersection in Yonkers after a crash between a shuttle bus and firetruck Wednesday evening.
Officials say that Ladder Company 313 was responding to a call and was in the intersection of Yonkers and Kimball avenues when it collided with an Empire City Casino shuttle bus at around 6 p.m.
Six people on board the bus and four firefighters were injured in the crash.
Residents say that Kimball Avenue, a fairly busy road, becomes too narrow for large vehicles to safely navigate going south toward Yonkers Avenue. They say that buses and similar vehicles should instead use Central Park Avenue, a commercial road that runs along I-87 and up to Empire City.
A spokesperson for the shuttle bus company says it will look into taking a new route.
All four firefighters have since been released from the hospital. One passenger from the shuttle bus remains hospitalized.
