A new report by WalletHub named Yonkers as one of the worst cities to start a career.
The study evaluated 29 key metrics including:
- Availability of entry-level jobs
- Average monthly salary
- Housing affordability
Mayor Mike Spano disagrees with the results and says the city is booming with new businesses.
"That's completely contrary to anything we have seen or heard about this city across the board," Spano says. "We are right now in a bit of renaissance. There are a lot of great things happening."
Some residents say there may be new small businesses, but not enough major employers.
According to WalletHub, the top three cities to start a career are Salt Lake City, Pittsburgh and Atlanta.
