The Westchester Women's Agenda recently released a report that found women in Westchester face several financial and health challenges.
The report claims that women in Westchester are more likely to live in poverty then men, can't pay for childcare and are unable to find affordable housing.
Shelia Klatsky, the secretary of the Westchester Women's Agenda, says that despite high incomes in Westchester, it is still a county of great disparities.
Researchers say many of these issues are magnified for minorities like black women, transgender women and disabled women.
Klatzky says women have more education, but are still paid less than men. She says she is working on a new initiative to remove salary history from job applications.
"It's only one small piece of it but it's an important piece," Klatsky said.
Advocates of equal pay are urging more women to run for political office to help combat some of the financial burdens.
