Renovated with a new name: Yonkers welcomes Palisade Towers
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and city leaders got an inside look Friday at the newly renovated apartment complex formerly known as the Schlobohm Houses.
The Palisade Towers, at 95 Walsh Road, now has a new outside façade and new elevators, along with new kitchen appliances, countertops and upgraded bathrooms.
Joseph Shuldiner, the executive director of the city Municipal Housing Authority, says it was all made possible by state funds and grants they applied for.
"The state had $125 million. Yonkers got $75 [million], so we got 60 percent of the state total because nobody else asked."
Construction is still underway at the Towers but will hopefully be completed in time for the summer.
