A crime lab and police academy in Valhalla received a multimillion-dollar upgrade.

Westchester County says it spent more than $9 million to make its police academy and crime lab one of the most sophisticated in the state.

It features a ballistic crime lab modular training space that can handle drills, ranging from active shooters to a possible terrorist situation.

The state-of-the-art crime lab is now one of 12 of its kind in the country because of cutting-edge technology like a 3D scanner. The device allows investigators to recreate a crime scene in real time by piecing together thousands of images from all angles in video form.

Officials say the facility will also allow them to handle more cases more efficiently.

The crime lab is used by all local police departments in the county to process evidence and assist with criminal investigations and prosecutions.
