Pat Quinn, the cofounder of the ice bucket challenge, was remembered Friday after succumbing to his battle with ALS earlier this week. 

The 37-year-old Yonkers man spent years devoting his life to finding a cure for himself and others battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, widely known as ALS.

Patrick Quinn Sr., Pat Quinn’s father, says the love for his son will never end.

“I loved that he was my son,” says Quinn Sr.

Quinn’s biggest contribution to finding a cure was bringing awareness through the ice bucket challenge that spread wildly on social media several years ago. The challenge touched people worldwide and helped raise over $220 million for research.

“That legacy is going to continue well into the future because there’s a lot of work left to be done,” says Quinn, Sr. “He’s only laid the ground work for funding, advocacy...so we can put an end to this beast known as ALS.”
