The young daughter and other relatives of a landscaper who drowned in Blue Heron Lake are mourning him.
Officials say White Plains resident Alejandro Limon Garcia, 31, had been installing an irrigation pump at a home on South Bedford Road Thursday in Pound Ridge. The home sits on Blue Heron Lake.
Limon had tied up a canoe, but it started drifting away. Police say Limon, who wasn't wearing a life vest or equipment that would have weighed him down, went to retrieve the canoe and never made it out of the lake alive.
"I'll always remember my father because he'll always be in my heart," said his daughter, Maria, as she fought back tears. "He always took care of me."
Relatives say that the victim knew how to swim, but the police say the cause of death is drowning. Authorities don't believe that foul play was involved.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to try and pay for Limon's funeral arrangements.
According to that page, Limon was the sole provider for his wife, Olivia, and daughters, Maria, 8, and Alejandra, 3.
