While most Putnam County residents have their power back following last Tuesday's damaging tornadoes, recovery efforts are far from over.
Patterson resident Alvina Williams is still waiting to have her power turned back on.
On the night of the storm, the octogenarian was holed up inside her home and hiding in her closet.  When she emerged, 11 trees on her property were snapped in half and her electric meter was ripped off her home.
Williams was lucky when John Flaherty and his crew showed up to help. They have been swamped and so have power company workers tasked with helping to get the community up and running.
“I was in Kent yesterday, it looked like a war zone. It looked like a bunch of tanks went through blowing up trees. It was pretty bad,” said Flaherty, of JF Construction and Landscaping.
Homeowners say nothing could have prepared them for what they are experiencing.
