The New York Rangers now know they'll be playing the Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup finals.
The Kings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 on Sunday night to advance to the Stanley Cup finals for the second time in three years. The victory meant the Kings will host the Rangers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals on Wednesday.
This will be the first time the Kings and Rangers have met in the finals. The teams did square off in the 1979 and '81 preliminary rounds, with the Rangers winning both times.
Yesterday, the Blueshirts were back on the ice at the MSG facility in Tarrytown for their first practice since winning the Eastern Conference Championships last week.
To a man, the players are ready to continue their quest for the cup. "It's a great opportunity. We've had some great times so far but we haven't accomplished our main goal. We have to be ready for the start of this series," says right winger Rick Nash.
