Caring for the Homeless and Hungry of Peekskill hosted a turkey trot over the weekend.
Registered runners were asked to bring frozen turkeys as a registration "fee." They were also encouraged to donate healthy root vegetables.
"We had over 250 turkeys donated as part of the race today. People race in all kinds of ways with baby strollers, backpacks, and we will take those 250 turkeys and distribute them later today in the community for Thanksgiving," says one organizer.
The organization also runs a food pantry every Saturday on North Division street in Peekskill starting at 8 a.m.
