Edwin Quezada began his first day as the official leader of the Yonkers Public Schools.
School Superintendent Quezada initially took over as interim superintendent when Michael Yazurlo stepped down, citing health reasons last fall.
Quezada hit the ground running, filling in since then.
He's no stranger to the financial troubles that have faced the district for decades, having started in Yonkers back in 1998.
The new superintendent has a reputation for making improvements, like turning around Lincoln High School. Quezada was principal at the high school for nearly a decade.
The Yonkers PTA says it hopes to continue its positive working relationship with the new superintendent as he takes on this new post
The district has seen three superintendents over the past three years.
