The man who found a woman's dead body behind a Yonkers building spoke with News 12 Monday about the gruesome discovery.
"I let the dog out and the girl's body was there," said John Mooney. "It was a complete shock. A complete surprise."
Mooney immediately called 911 after finding the naked body behind his home at 148 Stone Ave. after 7 a.m. Sunday. Investigators fanned out across the neighborhood, questioning residents after the medical examiner's office removed the body.
Questions included whether anyone saw a naked woman running down the street and whether residents have seen a black sweater.
Police still haven't released the identity of the 35-year-old woman, who is believed to live in the same neighborhood. Authorities say there were no signs of trauma to her body. More than a day after her body was discovered, there are still more questions than answers.
"How it happened, why it happened, who's involved -- no idea," said Mooney.
Police also haven't said how the woman died, but they refer to the case as "isolated," saying that locals have nothing to fear.
