Putnam County commemorated Heart Health Month with a special "Go Red Day" aimed at raising awareness about heart disease, the leading cause of death nationwide.

During this event, Putnam's Bureau of Emergency Services was present for the first time to educate county employees on recognizing and responding to cardiac emergencies. This initiative underscores the importance of early intervention in saving lives during critical situations.

Additionally, the county's Interim Health Commissioner addressed attendees, discussing various factors that can increase an individual's risk of developing heart disease. These factors include family history, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.

"Go Red Day" served as an opportunity for Putnam County to emphasize the significance of heart health and empower individuals with knowledge to protect their cardiovascular well-being.
