Protesters rallied at the VFW Plaza in Hastings on Saturday – calling for Puerto Rico’s debt to be absolved in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Nearly two dozen people called for investors to forgive Puerto Rico’s debt of more than $70 billion.
After meeting at the plaza, protesters went to the home of David E. Shaw, whose company D.E. Shaw and Co. owns part of Puerto Rico’s debt.
Nobody was home at the Shaw residence. The protestors went to the local post office to mail him letter addressing their issues.
News 12 reached out to Shaw but so far have not heard back.
