Protesters escorted out by law enforcement during Rockland’s State of the County address

Rockland County Executive Ed Day shined a spotlight on the county's financial comeback Tuesday during his State of the County address when a dozen pro-Palestinian protesters stood up - one by one, every few minutes - to share a message of their own before being escorted out by law enforcement.
Day eventually responded at the podium, “I support Israel."
"These folks who come and interrupt everything, they're entitled to that - to a degree. But they're not entitled to not allowing other people to hear the other side of the coin, which in this case is the condition of our county," said County Executive Day during an interview with News 12 after his speech at a county building in Pomona.
Tuesday's interruption was organized by Rockland for Palestine and Rockland for Ceasefire.
In an email, they say they did it because Day has shown no compassion for Rockland County’s Palestinian residents who have lost loved ones in the conflict.
They say they want Day to listen to his constituents and take a stand against what is happening in Gaza.
Rockland County Legislator Aron Weider did not sit quietly and had strong words for the protesters.
"You can't stay silent when there are over 120 hostages,” said Weider.
