The DOT’s goals is to make streets safer for everyone, and having bike lanes separated from traffic helps accomplish that.
The city’s bike network is already 623 miles long, but expansions in the Bronx are in the works, including in Soundview.
The department’s goal is to add 50 miles of protected bikes lanes per year.
