A group of veterans spent the July Fourth holiday on the side of the road for a special cause.
If you're driving near the corner of Vassar Road and Route 9 in Poughkeepsie on Friday, you'll see some flags on display.
"There's Army, Navy, Marine Corps," said veteran Jimmy Metrando.
The flags were placed there by a group of Marine Corps veterans to honor the brave men and women who fought for the country's freedom.
"We support all the troops, so it's to honor all the veterans, no matter what branch you are in or what you were doing," Metrando said.
The veterans said they've been putting up their display for the last 18 years.
"We had all kinds of people who were sort of kind of denigrating the military. We decided that we would take and support the military," said veteran Dennis Maloney.
Maloney said a good part of the community has supported their efforts over the years.
"We also had some people stopping by and joining us," Maloney said.
The group said they hope to continue this tradition for years to come.
