A trade war over airplane subsidies between the U.S. and the European Union is about to slice into business for cheese lovers.

Joe Gellert, president of World's Best Cheeses, is among those set to be affected. The Armonk, family-based cheese importer is home to over 4,000 cheeses, half of which are imported from places like France, Italy and Spain.

Come October, getting your hands on some imported items could become more difficult due to President Trump's trade dispute with the European Union. The Trump administration has proposed a 100% tariff on $25 billion of European products, including brie.

"Brie is one of the largest imported categories, this is all brie that happens to come from France," says Gellert.

Gellert says to expect stores to sell cheese in smaller pieces, making the price per piece skyrocket. He has set up a petition to fight the proposed tariffs.

The proposed tariffs would also impact the wine, meat and olive oil businesses.
