President
Joe Biden's visit to the Hudson Valley is expected to have an
impact on traffic in the region today.
Air Force One landed at Stewart
International Airport just before noon. The president was greeted by
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), Reps. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY 18) and Pat
Ryan (D- NY-19), and Orange County Supervisor Steve Neuhaus (R).
Biden toured the IBM campus
ahead of his speech.
Dutchess County Emergency
Management says Route 9, between Marist College and IBM Road, will be affected
by road closures and delays until 3 p.m.
The area of IBM and Spackenkill
Road will also be impacted.
Officials ask that you use
alternate routes as there will be a lot of traffic and delays.
The Secret Service has also
released a notice saying there is a no drone flight zone in the area today.
This is a customary practice for the Secret Service and FAA as an added layer
of security.
During the visit, IBM announced a plan to invest $20 billion across the Hudson Valley region over the next 10
years. The White House says the plan is a manufacturing "boom"
spurred by this summer's passage of a $280 billion legislative package intended
to boost the U.S. semiconductor industry and scientific research.
