The red carpet rolled out in midtown Manhattan Tuesday night for the premiere of the HBO miniseries "Show Me a Hero."
The real-life drama chronicles the Yonkers desegregation battle of the 1980s and '90s. It brings to life the politics and personalities involved in the struggle to build low-income housing on Yonkers' east side.
The series' star-studded cast, including Jason Isaac and Jim Belushi, attended the showing of the first episode of the six-part series.
The program was mostly filmed in Yonkers last fall and winter. At the time, writer and executive producer David Simon spoke with News 12 about bringing the story to life.
"People were afraid," Simon said. "The racial dynamic was one in which fear was sold and oversold, and the money was people's property values, and they might lose their dollars and cents of they didn't fight."
"Show Me a Hero" is based on the 1999 book of the same name by Westchester author Lisa Belkin.
The series premieres Sunday night on HBO.
