The husband of a pregnant woman who died in a head-on collision in Somers Monday says she refused a blood transfusion for religious reasons.Aleksey Borschov says his wife Lina, who was six months pregnant, was treated for her injuries with a blood product, not a whole blood transfusion. Full blood transfusions are prohibited in the Jehovah?s Witness faith both he and his wife practice.Lina Borschov, 27, was expecting the couple?s second child when she was injured in the crash on Route 110 in Somers. She was taken to Westchester Medical Center and underwent an emergency C-section. The baby did not survive. Lina refused a transfusion, but her husband says the measure may not have saved her anyway. Lina leaves behind a son, Nikita. Aleksey says he will rely on his faith to get him through his grief and the difficulties of single parenthood.
