Less than a day after News 12 Westchester aired an exclusive investigative report into a building allegedly used for gang initiations, steps are being taken to protect the property and area.

The owner of the old Glenwood Power Station says a tentative deal has been reached with Yonkers City Hall to increase security at the structure. In exchange for beefed up patrols from Yonkers police, the owner says he will secure the property's perimeter with new fencing.

Still, some residents think the old building should be razed as a safety precaution.

"I think they should tear it down," says Paula Crawford, who lives near the building. "I mean to board it up ? kids will find another way of getting in there and you'll have the same thing. Then what are you going to do? Wait until someone actually dies in there?"

The owner doesn't believe the site's destruction is the solution and says he's waiting for approval of a master building plan and zoning changes that will allow him to develop the property.

Unconfirmed reports say around 300 gang members have used the building this month alone for brutal rituals.
