Democratic state Senate candidate Andrea Stewart-Cousins has accused incumbent Senator Nick Spano (R-Yonkers) of using state money to help get him re-elected.
Spano was at a ground-breaking ceremony in Hawthorne Wednesday for a new mental health facility for Westchester. Spano presented a $100,000 check from the state for building costs. In July, Spano came up with more than $400,000 to help pay for a new armored police vehicle and more officers in Yonkers.
Stewart-Cousins is questioning the timing of all that state money. She says she is running again for the 35th District Senate seat because Albany is ?broken? and says there is too much irresponsible spending. Spano says he has no qualms about using the power of incumbency to leverage state funds for projects in his district.
