Residents say they were shocked to find out from police that a fire appears to have been started in a Yonkers building to possibly cover up a marijuana growing operation.
The flames erupted at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at a three-story building located at 23 Park Hill Ave.
Arcel Bravo says he can't believe someone was growing pot in an apartment next door to him.
"It's a little scary because I've been living here for a couple of years now, and I would have never thought that there were drugs being grown in there."
Yonkers police are still searching for the grower. The building has been condemned until further notice.
