A six-car pileup in Port Chester on Friday snarled traffic, caused three severe injuries, and made a couple late to their own wedding reception.
The chain-reaction crash happened at around 5 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-287, between exits nine and 10 in Harrison. Three people were hospitalized with serious injuries in the crash, and a fourth victim suffered less serious injuries.
Newlyweds Robert and Katherine Mitariten had just exchanged vows in Mahopac and were en route to their New Rochelle reception when they hit the ensuing traffic. The party bus carrying their entire wedding party sat on the interstate for 90 minutes.
The new husband and wife got off the bus, walked the median and got a ride to their reception, making it there about two hours late.
