The Village of Port Chester put into place new safety measures aimed at preventing car accidents.
The village posted pictures on Facebook Monday of Public Works crews painting new arrows on William Street at Regent Street.
Police told News 12 it’s because cars tend to turn the wrong way at the intersection.
Village Manager Stu Rabin says the arrows are meant to prevent accidents and better guide drivers. He the area was built before traffic became what it is now.
The village says the arrows are just the first step. A sign may follow and possibly some tweaks to the nearby memorial garden.
Residents in the area have been asking the village to do something to make the intersection safer, so the village hopes this will help.
