The owner of a popular Peekskill bakery will be hanging up her apron at the end of the year.
For more than four decades, Rose Sanca has led Homestyle Bakery and grew it into one of the city's most successful small businesses.
"You just know when your time's up," she says. "I'm well. I want to enjoy the next chapter of my life."
Sanca insists that while it wasn't an easy decision to make, it was the right one. She says the hardest part has been thinking of all the people she'll miss.
She will remain in Peekskill and will turn over the bakery to her children, who have spent the last three decades learning the business.
