An emergency rescue truck crashed into an occupied home shortly after midnight while responding to a reported boating accident near the Hudson River in West Haverstraw.

The vehicle was operated by the Thiells Fire Department and was heading to the West Haverstraw Marina when the crash happened on Railroad Avenue.

The underwater search and rescue truck slammed into the first-floor of the home, causing extensive damage to the two-story building.

The Rockland County Fire Collapse Team was called in to help rescue residents and stabilize the structure.

Several people were taken to Nyack Hospital and Westchester Medical Center.

Officials have not released information on their conditions.

Authorities have not said what caused the truck to crash into the building.

The road was temporarily closed following the incident but has since reopened.
