Rockland County Democrats held their nominating convention tonight and paid special tribute to late political activist Peggy Nadell.
Nadell was murdered earlier this year inside her Valley Cottage home.
The nominating convention held in Clarkstown was the first since the prominent political activist's murder. Rockland Democrats said the mood started out somber.
Those in attendance at the convention held a moment of silence for Nadell.
Committee members expressed their sadness as well. Senator David Carlucci said, "We are all going to be thinking about her and saying some prayers for her."
The committee meeting was adjourned in Nadell's name. Her family was also provided with a certificate of thanks for all of the help she had given to the Democratic Committee in Rockland.
Nadell's family is another step closer to justice for her, with four suspects behind bars. One suspect is Nadell's daughter-in-law Diana Nadell, who is accused of attacking and killing Nadell in her home to get her hands on a $4 million inheritance.
Two suspects charged with conspiracy in the murder plot have already been extradited back to Rockland. Nadell's daughter-in-law and the other woman charged with her murder are set to be extradited back to Rockland next week to face their charges.
