Police say a woman is dead and a suspect is in custody after a stabbing in Dutchess County Sunday afternoon.
They say it happened Sunday afternoon at a house on Scott Drive in the Town of Wappinger.
The victim, a woman reportedly in her 20s, was taken to the hospital in serious condition where she was later pronounced dead.
A neighbor said the woman was trying to get her attention.
"She ended up crossing over the streets, talked to me and collapsed in front of my mailbox, in front of my lawn, and that's when I noticed she was full of blood, she was not properly clothed and it looked like she had been stabbed," said neighbor Natalie Bedoya.
Meanwhile, a car sought in the stabbing was found at the Dutchess County Rail Trail in East Fishkill.
Officers from various agencies, which include the K-9 unit, were involved in the search.
The suspected who fled the scene was later located and taken into custody in Poughkeepsie.
A motive for the stabbing is not known.
