Police say that a 23-year-old who was fatally shot in White Plains in broad daylight Sunday may have been specifically targeted.
Police say Dominique Hospie, 23, of Dobbs Ferry, was killed on North Kensico Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators say the gunman was wearing a mask resembling the horror movie character Jason from the "Friday the 13th" series. They say witnesses saw the driver of a white SUV get out of the car and fire several shots at the victim before taking off.
Police say the victim was standing in front of his own car when he was shot.
Officers arriving on the scene say the victim was conscious. He was rushed to Westchester Medical Center, where he later died.
Public Safety Commissioner David Chong told News 12 that his department had dealt with the victim before. News 12 reported back in 2011 that police were looking to question the then-18-year-old about a shooting on Lake Street.
Hospie served 2 1/2 years for assault and was released in 2014.
The victim's last official address was Dobbs Ferry, but friends say he may have been living in White Plains.
