Police say a perceived bomb threat at Washingtonville High School Friday morning that forced students to evacuate the building was actually a misunderstanding.
A 14-year-old- student wrote on the board to brag about a grade he had received on a test.
The partial message read "I GOT @ BOMB" above where he wrote "GRA," police say. The student left the room before finishing the message.
Officials say a teacher noticed the message and called 911. Police say the high school students were sent to Washingtonville Middle School while their building was being searched by K-9 units and responding police officers.
Nothing was found.
All after-school activities at the high school and middle school were canceled, and students were dismissed 20 minutes later than normal, officials say.
Police say there was no criminal intent, and the student is not being charged.
