A Rockland County podiatrist and his girlfriend remain behind bars for allegedly trying to have his wife killed.
On Tuesday, police arrested Dr. Ira Bernstein, 41, and his girlfriend, Kelly Myzner Gribeluk, 36. The two were charged with trying to have Bernstein's estranged wife killed.
Ramapo police say Bernstein and Gribeluk reached out to someone who they thought could help kill Bernstein's wife, but the conspiracy fell through after that person went to police instead.
Police say the couple also planned on assaulting two United Healthcare insurance investigators, who reportedly were going to refer potential fraud charges to the Rockland District Attorney's Office. Bernstein has podiatry offices in Ramapo and Bardonia.
The pair is being held in Rockland County Jail. They are due back in court next Monday. The case is also expected to go before a grand jury later this week.
