An Orangetown police officer is recovering after being dragged by a car for more than 40 yards.
Police say 19-year-old Liam Russell dragged Officer Michael McNally with his car Wednesday morning, while the officer was trying to help the Blauvelt teen.
They say the teen, who was allegedly driving drunk, dragged the 42-year-old veteran officer near the corner of Truman Circle and Wilson Street in Blauvelt.
The teen was seen by neighbors, who called police after Russell was spotted inside his parked car for two hours.
Police say Russell was eventually stopped less than a half-mile away at his house on Blauvelt Road, where he allegedly resisted arrest and had to be Tasered.
Officer McNally is out of duty with injuries to his neck, back and upper body. He is expected to be OK.
Russell is now facing multiple felonies, including assault and reckless endangerment.
